Dallas Personal Training - Does the Price Reflect the Value? A Quick Look at Expensive Training Rates...
Over the many years that I have been a personal trainer in Dallas, I have noticed all sorts of types of trainers:
I have noticed many things from all of these trainers but one things I have noticed is that an ultra high price is not always a reflection of a high value. Another thing I have noticed is that a very low price is often a reflection of lack of value (but not always). Let me explain...
On the high priced side...
The trainers who tend to charge outrageously high prices are typically part of a group of trainers who call themselves "functional" trainers. This group of trainers primarily focuses on get he body to work properly by correcting improper motor patterns and muscle imbalances. This training has its place, and honestly should be a part of every trainer's regimen for every client. However, unless a client is injured, this form of training should not make up the lion's share of the training.
If a client can move "properly" thanks to years and year of functional training but is too weak to lift anything of significance or has such low a low level of endurance that even the slightest exertion leaves them winded, then how functional is the training after all?
This may sound absurd, but I assure you it is not. I have seen this type of training take place in ever gym I've ever trained in. It typically looks like rehab (because that is essentially what it is) and it does not emphasize strength or endurance development at all. And yet, the prices charged for this training are often double the rate of normal personal training.
I will say this, if your trainer does not include any of this functional training then you probably have a trainer with inadequate knowledge of the inter-relatedness and function of the muscles and joints of the body. On the other hand, if you trainer only utilizes this kind of training without any genuine strength and endurance training, then your trainer is probably living in a world of make believe and whatever results you get will fail to translate into actual functional improvement in your real life.
