Felt like I was going to pass out during today's workout...
I haven't done high rep squats in about 3-4 months because of a nagging knee injury, but my knee has finally improved enough to safely get back into them. I was excited, until after my second set... Then I remembered that high rep Back Squat are like the most challenging exercise in the gym and giving your absolute best on those babies will make you feel like an out of shape couch potato in no time flat. I was gasping for air and wondering what the heck was I thinking when I wrote this workout?!?! Remind me why I take myself through this torture again? Just because I'm a personal trainer doesn't mean I have to actually workout hard right? :) Well, as usual, about 30 minutes after the workout had ended I was feeling fantastic and was actually very glad I'd pushed myself (like any good personal trainer should right:)) Anyway, my knee did great and I got in a great, challenging, productive workout. The main thing is: Don't EVER think that its easier for everyone else than it is for you. Don't ever think that personal trainers enjoy their workouts and that people with good physiques have it easy.... 99 times out of 100 those people with good physiques put in the sweat, tears, and nausea day in a day out and earned every bit of that physique.... On the other hand.... every day doesn't have to be hard.... For instance, tomorrow is my easy workout day. It will be a light easy workout that assists in speeding up muscle recovery AND keeps my metabolism high to allow me to continue burning fat 24/7If every workout was as challenging as today 1) no one would stick with exercise for long enough to get any results and 2) the body would get overtrained and that would hinder all progress (overtraining is just as detrimental to your progress and undertraining).
